OHIO CLASSIC AVERAGES $755
The price of feed and diesel did not dampen the desire to buy Southdowns. The Ohio Sale averaged $775 on 192 head. The sale was topped by the champion ewe of Pleasant Springs Southdown. The yearling sold for $9500 going to Olivia Waggoner of Berlin, PA. 56 yearling ewes averaged $847. Northern Star sold yearlings for $1700 & $1400. Willwerth $2100, Pleasant Springs $2000, Oldenberg $2600 and Splenderview for $1700 and $1150.
The champion Ram was a fall lamb of Norther Star going for $5750 to Derek Wilson of Titusville, PA. The senior reserve was also a fall lamb of Fielder Southdowns selling for $850. The reserve champion and junior champion ram was the January lamb from A&M Ranch selling for $3000 and the reserve junior was sold by Rinker Southdowns for $475.
The reserve ewe and junior champion was the February lamb of B & B Howard selling for $1250. senior reserve was the yearling of Splenderview. The junior reserve was the January lamb of Northern Star Livestock selling for $800.
Fall ewe lambs sold very well with Northern Star bringing $2750, Pleasant Springs $2500, Hopkins $1700 and Willwerth $1200. 24 averaged $822. 60 of the 65 ewe lambs were nominated for the futurity. High sellers were Pleasant Springs $1100, Fielder $1200,A&M Ranch $1800 & $1000, B & B Howard $1600 & $1150, Forsee $1450 & $1000, Splenderview $1350 and Mapolyne $1350. 23 January ewe lambs averaged $564 and 41 February averaged $659.
12 yearling rams averaged $841 with Davis Family getting $2500, Northern Star $1600, Pleasant Spring $1100 and B & B Howard $1000.16 Fall rams averaged $937. Oldenberg sold for $1050, Fielder $1750 and Pleasant Springs $1100. Pleasant Springs was also the winner of the best consignment award.
11 January ram lambs averaged $1150 and 9 February ram lambs averaged $411. High selling lambs were Willwerth $1100, Hopkins $1500 and MB Genetics $4000. Forsee sold a February lamb for $1200.
